Tai chi (pronounced "tie chee") is a mind-body
practice that originated in China. A person doing tai chi moves his body
slowly and gently while breathing deeply and meditating. Tai chi is
sometimes called "moving meditation". Many practitioners believe that
tai chi helps the flow throughout the body of a proposed vital energy
called qi (pronounced "chee") which means "air" or "power". In
traditional Chinese medicine, the vital energy or life force is proposed
to regulate a person's spiritual, emotional, mental, and physical
health. Tai Chi promotes good body mechanics and helps develop balance
in body, mind and spirit. In the United States, tai chi for health
purposes is part of complementary and alternative medicine.

Joe will be demonstrating tai chi for better balance
that he learned at the c on evidence based tai chi for better balance.
This form works especially well for seniors since there are no kicks in
the form. Joe is also teaching two classes at the Albany Senior Center -
Tai Chi for Better Balance and Tai Chi for Beginners. He is also at
the YMCA and at Samaritan Cancer Rehabilitation in North Albany.
